Harwinton is a lovely rural, suburban town located in the Litchfield Hills in northwestern Connecticut. The town was incorporated in 1737 from land controlled by the towns of Hartford and Windsor. The name is a combination of those towns, HARtford and WINdsor TOwN. The community continues to grow with residential areas scattered between large pockets of watershed-protected land. Major shopping areas exist in nearby Avon, Bristol and Torrington.
