Regional School District 10
Regional School District #10 serves the Connecticut towns of Burlington and Harwinton and was established in 1962. The four schools of the district, Lewis S. Mills High School, Har-Bur Middle School, Lake Garda School and Harwinton Consolidated School, have a total enrollment of more than 2800 students. The communities have a commitment to high quality schools meeting the academic needs of a wide range of students.
Parent involvement is outstanding and is a hallmark of the district. Orientations, open house programs, conference sessions and student performances provide opportunities for parents to participate in the student experience. At the high school, booster clubs in athletics and music provide exemplary support for the programs. Elementary school Parent Teacher Associations provide financial support for a variety of programs including an on site writer-in-residence and a school weather station.
The schools maintain up-to-date computer labs as well as portable computer labs. All schools are fully wired and contain classroom computers. A wide area network connects all school buildings and gives students and staff access to the Internet. Students serve as technology assistants using the LSM video production lab. Staff technology training groups use portable computers and teacher technology benchmarks as training guides.
Connecticut mastery test scores place students in the top tier of the state. CAPT Scores in grade 10 demonstrate strong results placing the top 20% or better since the 2010-2011 school year.
